Meriel Torrey Goodwin
Meriel Torrey Goodwin is the author of the Slime Molds of North Carolina site (currently in development). Meriel has been a slime mold specialist for 30 years, living in Europe and studying with the well known experts Bruce Ing (UK) and Marianne Meyer (France). Since arriving in the Myxomycete hotspot of North Carolina in 2017, she has been photographing and collecting specimens all over the state, as well as organizing the Myxomycete Collection at the UNC Herbarium. For the NC Biodiversity Project she developed the state-wide Myxomycete Checklist, and inventoried the local myxomycetes for the New Hope Creek Biodiversity Survey 2021-2022. Meriel holds the Certificate in Native Plants from the North Carolina Botanical Garden, and is currently working on a comprehensive photographic inventory of NC Myxomycete taxa to accompany the Checklist.
