The University of North Carolina Chapel Hill's extensive herbarium collection is managed by the NC Botanical Garden, and is the premier repository of plant, fungi, specimens in the region. With over 800,000 specimens dating back to the 1800s, the herbarium is an excellent resource for plant identification and distribution in the Southeast. In addition to vascular plants and fungi, the herbarium's searchable collection includes bryophytes, lichens, and algae.
